This Art Deco cocktail ring c.1935 by Tiffany & Co really is a puzzle. It’s hard to see where one part ends and the next begins… because it’s designed as an assymetrical ring, our eyes find it difficult to really get a handle on it.
However, it’s worth the effort to get to know all the angles and crannies and nooks you’ll find if you keep your eyes peeled for long enough to see what goes where on this maze of a ring. Yes, it’s quite like a maze, this circa 1935, platinum ring set with a cent round diamond, approximately 1.60 carats, accented with round diamonds (tcw .75 carat) and calibre sapphires.
Offered by CAPO Auction, New York City, there’s a link through to a live auction on Live Auctioneers, and that’s where the sale happened. With an estimate of $8,000 – $12,000, the ring sold for $7,500.
