December 4 Holiday Fine Jewelry Signature Auction
This is the spectacular and dramatic Murder She Wrote cuff. The square-shaped opal is the feature stone, topped by faceted rock crystal. Full-cut diamonds set in two overlapped frames in a curved and pointed design, enhance the bezel-set opal. The gems are complemented by the pebbled texture of shagreen (natural shagreen is the tanned cartilaginous skin of stingray or similar fish, or sometimes animals, but environmental considerations have made faux shagreen more popular). The gems are set in 18k gold. The maker’s mark for Stephen Webster, British jewelry designer. Dimensions: 6-1/2 inches x 2 inches. Estimate: $4,000 – $6,000.
