I’m having a pink day, and only pink and pinky red tourmalines will do. If only I had a pink tourmaline in my jewelry box! My favourite watermelon tourmaline pendant is simply not pink enough for today!
Ah well, I’m off to the opera in Sydney tonight and my theme is black and white – with a long, long string of alternating runs of quite scrumptious pearls and faceted jet. No pink tourmaline.
It’s great to have these two beauties to look at though.
The first is a dark pink tourmaline, diamond and bicolour gold necklace, from a Florida Estate (a beautiful collection of jewelry) auctioned as Lot 210 in Bonhams’ “Fine Jewelry” sale on 18 Oct 2007, 13:00 EDT in New York.
The cushion-shaped pink tourmaline in fact looks as if it is wearing a very cute tiara, but no, it’s simply the cluster of round, brilliant and marquise-cut diamonds from which it’s suspended! There are more diamonds set into the gracefully curved scroll surmount (love those baguettes, especially and the way they complement the curve). It’s completed by a fine-link chain.
