Early Victorian Romantic Acrostic Ring
The reign of Queen Victoria was a long one, from 1837 to her death in 1901, and we usually look at it in chunks! The Romantic Era from 1837 to 1861 reflected the mutual affection of the Queen and her consort Alfred in British society in general – flower motifs, acrostic jewelry and symbolism in jewelry to convey affectionate messages were popular.
From FrithStreet on Etsy comes a simple and beautiful early Victorian ‘Dearest’ ring, where the first letter of the gem names spell a romantic message. In this ring, the stones are Diamond, Emerald, Amethyst, Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire, Topaz, spelling out the word ‘Dearest’. The ring is now sold and no longer available, but we can certainly enjoy the images below.
