Emeralds And Rubies Featured In Vintage Jewelry
It’s a little unusual to see emeralds and rubies used together as the feature colours… for some reason, green and red has not been a popular combination without another colour to liven things up (as in Cartier’s tutti frutti jewelry, with the addition of sapphires). Almost always, diamonds have been used to tone down the effect of these two strong complementary colours.
Below and on the next pages are three examples of vintage jewelry where emeralds and rubies have been used together – and seem to have enjoyed each other’s company!
